Virtual Real Estate is Kind of Like Playing Monopoly
I'm sure anyone reading this has played a game
or two of Monopoly(tm). The popular board game
that never really became "unpopular".
There are alot of similiarities between Monopoly
and Virtual Real Estate (VRE). Except with VRE,
you are playing for real money.
How? Good question, glad you asked! If you
happen to be a business owner, with a bricks-
and-mortar operation and you don't have a website,
GET ONE!
You know that the building your business is
operating from and the land that it sits on is
worth money. It has value.
Well, owning a website, a domain name, a .com,
.net, .info, etc. is that same as owning the
land and building that your business is housed
in.
Just as with Monopoly, as your website "grows"
and "matures" and becomes it's own entity (with
your help of course).
It gets more traffic and as you add value to it
with relevant, valuable content it becomes more
and more valuable.
Kind of like buying one red house at a time until
you get enough red houses to buy a green hotel.
As time goes on and you learn how to get traffic
to your website, it gathers value.
Maybe not overnight but eventually it will gain
value. If you take the proper actions to make it
gain value. i.e. learning how to attract consistent
visitors.
So, if you now own a domain name, website any
derivitive of these types of Virtual Real Estate
just remember that the more you invest in building
your website up the more it will be worth down the
road when it becomes time to exit.
